Smart Grid?

Just saw this article on Yahoo!, the smart grid. Technology that will change my settings for my appliances, etc.

Not sure I like that idea. Switching my electricity intake from coal-burning plant to neighbor's solar array, etc., that's ok. What do you folks think.
