Re: Don't this just chap yer ass
Tue, June 2, 2009 - 7:36 AMI had posted info about this on Facebook a few months back. This has been on the radar for awhile now. It bugs me to no end. But then again, "consumer groups" is just another name for "government control of every facet of your life."
Welcome to Government Motors, the soon destruction of the farmer's market, and the Obama Youth.
Welcome to hell. -

Tue, June 2, 2009 - 2:07 PMI wonder if they will also go after herbalists for practicing medicine without a license. -

Re: Don't this just chap yer ass
Wed, June 3, 2009 - 11:13 AMWell yeah, why do you think they have actual doctors of naturopathy and homeopathy now? I wanted to get my DN but the college was too expensive and I couldn't get sufficient financial aid loans for it. So, I just don't mention that I know certain "cures" for things. I just mention to close friends things that may help, given their body weight, age, condition, etc. Saves me from "practicing medicine" so to speak. Herbalists that know what they are doing, know they are really druggists, and therefore have to have major medical training. Without that knowledge, and herbalist can do more harm than good. -

Wed, June 3, 2009 - 11:26 AMHeh, I never quite understood what my Teach meant when she said I'de eventually make a "flying potion" as an herbalist. Whoo doggy, she was right, though. A friend of mine and I spent a whole day "flying" ;)
On the flip side, I had a great talk with a chiropractor once. Ever get a broken bone?
Chiropratcer sets the bone and gives you an adjustment.
Allopathic physician sets the bone, puts you in a cast and gives you drugs
Herbalist gives you herbs (maybe even sets the bone)
Drill sergeant sets the bone and tells you to "walk it off"
Who does the healing in all of these cases? You do. -

Re: Don't this just chap yer ass
Thu, June 4, 2009 - 6:48 AMOkay, when I said druggist, I did not mean druggie or drug addict or drug pusher. I meant it in terms of prescribing drugs (medicine) to people. Most of our commercial drugs today are still based on plant chemicals or animal chemicals. Sure they have isolated them and synthesized them, but they still have their roots in the natural world. Anything nature comes up with to harm you, it also creates something to correct that. You just have to look for it.
Why are we tired after eating turkey on Thanksgiving? Tryptophan.
Why does hot chicken soup help shorten a cold? We don't know yet, but it has been proven in the lab.
